Getting here:

• Airports:
  • La Guardia (LGA) 19 miles:
    Closest and fairly convenient getting in and out of. Probably the best, if you'll be taking cabs instead of renting a vehicle.
  • JFK (JFK) 23 miles:
    Big, and can be somewhat of pain getting in and out of, but lots of flights.
  • Islip Macarthur (ISP) 33 miles:
    Small and nice, but not particularly close. Probably not the best if taking cabs. Southwest flies here. Delta and American do as well but not many flights.
• Local Hotels:
  • East Norwich Inn in East Norwich (ask for CWPost rate) (Directions to Campus from this hotel)
  • Fairfield Inn in Syosset (Directions to Campus from this hotel)
  • Howard Johnson in Westbury
• Getting to our offices:
  
  • Airport shuttle
  • Driving: Looking at the campus map, you'll be entering at the East Gate from Northern Boulevard:
    • Take an immediate right as you enter (on the map it's labeled "University Drive").
    • Turn left toward the guard booth when you see it (labeled "22" on the map).
    • Turn left into the parking lot just after the booth and park somewhere.
    • From your car, walk towards the booth and continue into the Life Science/Pell Hall building (labeled number 32 on the map).
    • Go past the vending machines, and then left down the hallway. When you see stairs on either side of you, go up one level.
    • Walk toward the doors to the exterior, and then turn right down the hallway.
    • My office is Pell 210, and the department office is 201 at the end on the right.

• Coffee:
  • Downstairs (floor 1) of Pell Hall, a small snackshop called the Ocelot has coffee (only open Fall/Spring)
  • Hillwood Commons has a coffee counter (only open Fall/Spring)
  • Off campus there's a Starbucks
• Local Restaurants:
  • Wheatley Plaza is just west on Northern Blvd a mile or so and has a Ben's Kosher Deli, Starbucks, Pathmark grocery store
  • Moe's burritos a couple miles west on Northern Blvd at intersection with Glen Cove Road (across the street from Wheatley Plaza). There's a Wendy's and Burger King in the same general area.
  • Just north on Glen Cove Road on the left side is a fancy deli and Sarin Thai restaurant. On the right side is a KFC/Taco Bell, and some pizza places
